Congratulations to Jaimie at SW1, Receiving an MCE

Here at SW1 we’d love to congratulate our The master colour programme is an intense journey of training towards becoming a MASTER COLOUR EXPERT to Jaimie Hilton.
Wella Professionals Master Colour Programme is the ultimate course to provide the highest achievers in colour with absolutely everything that could ever be needed within the salon to promote colour to the ever demanding clientele.

It is truly holistic, bringing in all the key factors for colouring success from handling and getting more from basic colouring to the most challenging and complicated aspects of colouring and colour correction.

There are 4 stages to the programme:

Stage 1:
This stage is to brush up on all basic colouring techniques and the basic science behind the technical services provide.

Stage 2:
This stage covers all aspects of colour including the science, biology and history to colour. This is no basic colour programme; it is very intense with projects, course work and an exam. The pass rate for this has to be higher than 85% and to be able to continue on to the stage 3 is 90%. At the end of this stage Jaimie had to work on a model and colour and style hair and do an overall presentation to members of Wella.

Stage 3:
This stage helps to build and consolidate on the expertise and the experience gained during stage 2. It helps to polish your skills and to learn to analyse hair from an advanced level. During this stage you learn advance colour correction techniques and how to maintain healthy hair. JAIMIE RECIVED HIS MASTER COLOUR SPECIALIST TITLE ONCE HE HAD COMPLETED THIS STAGE!

Stage 4:
THIS STAGE IS BY INVITATION ONLY! Not just anybody can apply for this title and part of the programme. During this stage you learn the chemistry of colour and extreme colour correction, the emotion and psychology of the effects colour has on clients and the legal considerations to do with colour. This is followed by a technical exam where hair has to be coloured to the same colour as a swatch Wella provide you. The hair you have to colour had been coloured already in 4 different sections. One section is jet black, the second section is blonde and damaged, the third is green and brown and the final section was red, orange and yellow including being very damaged. For each section there is an allotted amount of time and the exam is over 4 afternoons. All the hair from each section is marked and has to be the same colour as the swatch, and in good condition. This exam has a high failure rate and was one of the most stressful and testing things Jaimie has endured within his hairdressing career

SW1′S 5 Year Anniversary Party and Open Evening

Happy 5th Birthday to SW1.

Here at SW1 on Tuesday 10th May, we hosted a birthday celebration that treated our clients, friends and family to an evening of hair and styling workshops, consultations and demonstrations. We opened up the salon; giving advice and helping with the day-to-day trials that us ladies and gents have to go through to looking fabulous.

 Celebrating in Style….

Our stylists were available to chat to many of our long-standing and brand new clients to the salon and taught them how to enhance their colour and style.Holiday hair advice was given and how to correctly use their styling tools and products, right down to skincare advice and make up application.

Our stylists, that specialise in areas such as Wedding hair, prom hair up styles, Extensions as well as The Everlasting Blowdry were on hand to answer any questions they had always wanted to ask us.

There was a great lively gathering not only taking advantage of the fantastic hair and beauty treats laid on but also celebrating a brilliant landmark birthday. What a great achievement surviving, succeeding and looking forward to the future of hair and beauty at SW1.

To all of you that attended…

Thank you to all of our loyal standing and new clients that attended the evening. We are all really touched by your support.

Thank you once again and here’s to another 5 + years.

Patrick Cameron and SW1 Hairdressing Winners

Pateck Cameron EveningPatrick Cameron at Kent College Open Evening
March 2011

Patrick Cameron, the internationally renowned hair up expert and icon to many hairdressers spanning the length and breadth of the country came to West Kent College, Tonbridge, Kent last night for a master class in his trade. This was an evening to celebrate the opening of the new look college and the high tech hair and beauty rooms they now have available.

All salons where members of their team attend the college had one free ticket to be a part of the evening as well as any prizewinners of the Mid Kent hair up competition that took place in the Summer of 2010 also bagging free tickets to the event. As SW1 Produced 3 winners: Georgia May coming 3rd in the 18th and 19th century division and Karis Davis coming 2nd and myself Lauren Willis coming 1st in the Avant Garde ‘Dreams Theme’ division, along with Sandra we were only to honoured to attend the evenings entertainment.

Patrick Cameron Showcase

Patrick Cameron came out to a packed audience showcasing 2 looks easily created within minutes. To start with he told us a little about his background and how he originally got into hairdressing, hair up and generally conquering the world with his take on step by step easy to follow hair up designs. – Such a lovely, humorous guy with a very addictive personality. This was so inspirational and giving you a feeling of ‘I can do that!!!’

The first look offered to us was the French pleat, feared by some stylists but he made it effortless to recreate. Whilst working his magic step by step and easy to follow he interacted and chatted away to the audience and engaging each and everyone by pulling out certain members and talking to members of the audience during his presentation. The final outcome was sleek and faultless considering he must have spent just over 5minutes on this design – Truly fabulous!!!!

Patrick Cameron Second LookThe second look was more Avant Garde but presented in a way that you could recreate the look on any young woman going out for an evening that wanted something different from the norm. This was the Lady Gaga bow! This design seems and looks difficult yet in true Patrick Cameron style he made it simple, sleek and very polished.

The great thing that came across when he was presenting was the personality and the reference to what’s in Vogue, looking at hair trends from high end to high street people and magazines to catwalk shows and celebrities. This was great for us to really look and research ‘outside the box’ and make our job more inspiring, interesting and current.

A Great Big Thank You to Kent College

So a big thank you goes out to Kent College for the invite and hosting the event and a huge thank you goes out to Patrick Cameron for just being inspiring, truly brilliant and a great comedian!!! All of us at SW1 had a fabulous night out with all of us brimming with ideas and wanting to practice his hair up designs ASAP. So…..any willing models out there?…..
